Artist Statement about the series “A Timeless Pursuit”
Most fine art series revolve around a deep notion; mine revolves around a fantasy.  Growing up in Texas, I would watch old television shows on Nick-at-Nite, read magazines like Rolling Stone and Entertainment Weekly, and beg to go to the movies on a Friday night fixated on thoughts of the flashing lights in Hollywood. Most of my family vacations were spent in the Midwest and the Northeast, leaving the West to my
imagination. Like most of America, I pictured the fabulous lives of movie stars living amongst the Hollywood Sign, Rodeo Drive, and the Walk of Fame. I eventually went to college in Boston where I began to take a liking to film. I got a lucky break after graduation and landed a job working on the Paramount Lot in Hollywood. I was ecstatic at the thought of moving to Los Angeles and living the fabulous life that I had always dreamt about. I will never forget my first week on the fabled lot, driving through the pearly gates looking blatantly for any signs of a celebrity- if only I could stay in that mirage forever. With time I began to understand the business that went on inside the lot and I realized
that Los Angeles is a city far different than the one I had always imagined. A year later when I came across this vintage Oscar De La Renta dress in a friend’s closet that had not seen the light of day in decades, I instantly had a vision. Using the model and the dress as my muse, I took to the streets of Los Angeles and began to tell the timeless story of the life I had always pictured in this town. I chose not to reveal the model’s face in order to leave a mystery, or a fantasy, for the viewer to create on their own. Once I began to look at the series as a whole, I realized that these images transcend time and history, giving way to the title: A TIMELESS PURSUIT.
This body of work was photographed from 2008-2010.

Artist Statement about the Series “Prada Marfa”
When I first went to the small town of Marfa, Texas and shot some images of the illusive Prada Store on the side of the highway, I knew I had to return. Dreaming up concepts to photograph at the store for months, this series of work is nothing more than glimpses of my imagination and wit.  Marfa is famous for many reasons but notably for its ‘New York chic’ meets ‘cowboy cool’ art scene that has been written up all over the world.  Back in 2005 two artists named Elmgreen and Dragset came to Marfa to find the perfect location for their hyper-commercialism vision of a free-standing Prada store in the middle of nowhere. The store was built from the ground up using minimal materials and a very exclusive 2005 line of Prada purses and shoes were placed in the installation. The door was sealed after the store was completed- never to be reopened.  Though the purpose of the store can be argued, I chose to believe that it is an attempt to challenge the viewer to think outside the box and should insight all of us to continue to question what exactly art is all about.
